Thank you for your question. Burkina Faso with a capital city Ouagadougou, is located in West Africa; we are about 15 millions inhabitants. French is the official language but we have many other local languages (more than 30). The major ones are Mooré, Dioula, Fulfuldé. It's a laïque country but the muslems are numerous. My country is in the saharian area and we have no sea. We import a lot of things but we are exporting also. For exemple we are the first in West Africa exporting cotton. We are exporting also cattle and other things. Have you ever heard speaking of FESPACO? It's the panafrican festival of cinema of ouagadougou. It's held every two years in the capital city Ouagadougou where is the head office. Many movie makers for all over Africa come to show their movies which have been selected. It's like the Academy Awards in the USA. The highest honour is THE GOLD YENNEGA. There is another big event which is SIAO. The international trade show of the craft industry of Ouagadougou. It's also held every two years. Many craftsmen come from all over the world for a one week exhibition. It's really interesting. The name of our president is Blaise COMPAORE. We have 2 diplomatic representant in the USA, one in New York and one in Washington. We have also many student there in your country. Hope I've been of any help. Any other question about my country is welcomed!
Best regards, Judith |
