Hi,
I need to know if there is a difference between the words movie and film in use. I noticed that movie is used for refering to the cinema productions. Is film more general than movie?.

Regards,

They are nearly equivalent, there is no substantial difference. Film is by some considered a bit more formal or pretentious.

.
'Film' is used more in BrE, 'movie' in AmE. Perhaps that's why it seems formal or pretentious to some.
