Sentence: None of the companies has launched their services. #1 (permalink) Thu Feb 12, 2009 5:40 am   Sentence: None of the companies has launched their services.
 

I read in a news paper:
1. "Barring Sistema Shyam, none of the companies has launched their services."
2. "None of them have even placed orders for equipment".

Here after none, in one place "has" is used.
in another place "have" is used.

Which one is the correct one?

As far as I know "none + has" is okay.

Although the plural is more natural in this sentence, wouldn't you say, as "their services" is plural, too?
