Hi to all! Nice to see you here! Chatroom lingo means such web-sites where people chat online using slangs and acronyms. For not to write the whole word expression they write it like abbreviations, e.g.
- adn - Any Day Now
- afk - Away From Keyboard
- afn - that's All For Now
- asap - As Soon As Possible
- asl?, a/s/l - what's your Age, Sex, and Location?
- atm - At The Moment
- b4 - Before
et cetera and et cetera...
As for me, I don't like chatting like this, I'm sure that it's the worst way of improving English ever

Hi, I know what you mean. But if you really want to speak english good you can use audio and you can record your own voice and listen to it. Also, you can buy a simple grammar book and read it and slowly you will learn on how to make sentences. Just be patient if you work hard you will be a good speaker. |

Hello Maryann!
Many thanks for your explanation of chatroom lingo, I've got it now. I strongly agree with you when you say you dislike this kind of chatting, it's impossible to learne a language in this way!
Best regards! |

Hi ..Tiendrébéogo...
Yes..you are absolutely right...this shortcut chatting will never improve the language skills..rather it will give more laziness in learning the regular language..

Tiendrébéogo, there are many very clear and concise recordings that have been made by the moderators on the home page links. Alan breaks down grammar into easy to understand pieces and writes about this.
Hope this is of some help to you.

Hi Neda,
Based on your written English I'd say you need to improve your listening accuracy. You have developed the habit of ignoring basic rules when you compose simple messages which leads me to think that you use the same approach when you listen. So my suggestion is you increase the amount of time you spend on listening to English every day and you pay more attention to details.
Also, how many of our listening comprehension exercises have you completed so far?
