Your first step will be to learn the difference between "like" and "as".
A person who speaks English "as" a native speaker is a native speaker.
If a person is not a native speaker, but he speaks English that is the same as a native speaker's, then he speaks English "like" a native speaker.
Similarly:
He came to Paris as a tourist. = He was a tourist.
He came to Paris like a tourist. = He wasn't a tourist, but he traveled the way a tourist does. |
