Is it OK to say 'The data is sitting on hard disk'? #1 (permalink) Fri Feb 13, 2009 7:29 am   Is it OK to say 'The data is sitting on hard disk'?

Can someone please tell me if the following sentence is OK?

The data is sitting on hard disk.

I know it sounds funny but I was just wondering if I could say something like this.

PS: Please point out mistakes in my post if there are any.

Thanks Mister Micawber!

I was wondering if sitting could be used in this sentence? My focus was on that.

However, I think you should add an article or possessive pronoun before "hard disk": data is sitting on the/a/my hard disk.

Wouldn't you rather say that 'the data is stored on a hard disk'.
