Hello every body,

What’s the difference between the two sentences? And which one is more certain?

My father told he would go on vacation next summer.
My father told he would be going on vacation next summer.

Thank you.

Hi,

'Would go' is definite and a reported version of 'I will/shall go'. 'Would be going' suggests that this would be his intention.

Besides, you shouldn't use "to tell" without saying whom it is told to. Such as "he told ME that ...", or "they told THE MAYOR that ...".

If you don't want to mention whom it is told to, use the verb "to say" instead.
