Why not while? I'm a c++ programmer and from any programmers point of view there should be "while" because then the sentence has a logical/mathematical sense.
Only because I know you are not a programmer I chose "because".

You need the word because here as you want to give a reason why there is no work that day. You could also ask Why is there no work today? And the answer would be Because today is Sunday.
