Please tell me which word (and/but) is correct in the sentence below:

The journey is very interesting (and/but) it is very expensive, too.

"But" is used when two connected things are in opposition.
"And" is neutral, it does not show any special kind of connection between two things.
Either one could be used here depending on context. "But" is more probable because an opposition is likely here.
