Speech sounds: tough and bough, cough and dough #1 (permalink) Thu Feb 19, 2009 21:15 pm   Speech sounds: tough and bough, cough and dough

Hi
During the learning English language i found it very strange and difficult to pronunciation because the sound of spoken English do not match up,a lot of the time with letters of written English. for example: tough and bough and cough and dough.
Best regards HAMID

Hi Lama,
I agree with you on this topic, BUT in your own sentence (.. englis is the most easier languages..) you have made some mistakes/ errors. Please don't think that I am your coach or boss or whatever.
As you know, we learn a lot from our experiences, admitting our mistakes, and correcting them. I am very much sorry if you think that I've interfered into your personal affairs. English maybe easier for you, but for others, it is not an easy language. That's why this Site does exist. Once again, I am very much SORRY if I've hurt your feelings. Have a nice time ahead.

PS: Which country are you from? Just curious.

I have some reasons for my idea

Hi Anjuvaidoo,
You are most welcome. But to whom are you referring? Anyway, I, as a member of this Forum, would really like to help you in whichever way I can. Thanks.

Speech sounds... #11 (permalink) Sun Mar 01, 2009 12:01 pm   Speech sounds...

Hi Alan,
I hope this message gets you well & content. I like to play with words and prefer US English to the UK. Anyway, it doesn't matter.
Just this: Can you tell me the longest English word? I know some but the topic is very much controversial. I think it should be "Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis". Which one do you think is the LONGEST? And I will appreciate it very much if you will write some of the most challenging English words which we can't find in most of the major dictionaries. Thanks a lot to you for your response.
