In this case, "thank you" is more appropriate than "congratulation".

Congratulation: an expression of pleasure at the success or good fortune of another

Thank you: a conversational expression of gratitude

Can I also point out that it's better to say "congratulations" with the 's' rather than "congratulation". I don't know why, but people say the first one a lot more thant they say the second one.
