Neighbors should pay attention to the lives of people in their community.

Due to an enhancement on living standards, people do not have to rely on their neighbors as much as they did in the past. The world is now a place where a mere attempt to help one another in a neighborhood might be considered as invading privacy. There is neither sympathy nor care within neighbors, especially in metropolitan areas. Where have they gone? Where is the warm-hearted care and love? To solve this problem, I strongly suggest that paying close and friendly attention to the lives of people in our community can bring an end to it.

One of the foremost reasons why people decide to heighten their walls between neighbors is because they are afraid of frauds and burglary. People are more worried that they will lose all their lives’ savings due to befriending neighbors who are thieves. In many cases, this is absolutely not true. I have heard of many neighbors where everyone trusts one another, and protect each others’ belongings and shelters. With simple consideration and sympathy, people are able to build a sheltered, solid community where no walls are necessary. Therefore, building a better relationship with neighbors could provide a more stable sense of security than locking every doors and building higher walls.

Moreover, there are obstacles in life that are extremely difficult to deal with without someone else’s help. Unfortunately, one’s family and friends are not always there to assist. That is when neighbors play a significant role. Catastrophes such as natural disasters and local crimes cannot be overcome by a single person. If neighbors pay close, friendly attention to the lives of people in their community, it would make it more efficient and easy to deal with those problems. There are many stories of how a whole neighborhood surviving a drastic disaster by solely taking care and providing friendliness. That is when one could appreciate the neighbors for being there when no one is.

Our society is becoming more and more isolated and individuals are being isolated every day. This is a serious situation, for if maintained this way, people will not be able to develop as a whole community. It is crucial to pay close and sympathetic attention to neighbors in order to advance not just the individuals, but the whole community.
