Zenobia conquered Syria and Egypt; she also sent armies to occupy (parts of?) Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey). By doing these things, she brought under her power all the ways to the far East (mainly China).

Does it mean she gained control of all routes to the far East?
Yes.
Is gaining control of all routes to the far East the result of taking the whole Syria of Syria, conquering Egypt and sending armies to Asia minor?
Probably so, but we can't be sure: "thereby" could refer to all three, or to Asia Minor only. |
