(b) fled for their lives
(c) flowed for their lives
(d) fleeing for their lives

They panicked and fled for their lives.

Correct answer: (b) fled for their lives

Your answer was: incorrect
They panicked and flew for their lives.

flew for their lives means to fly to survive. i think so. you can explain why is it to flee for their lives?

Yes, they fled for their lives because they were so scared. As you pointed out fled is the simple past form of the verb flee which means to run or move very fast in order to escape. Flew wouldn't work here because this is the simple past form of the verb fly and as you remember we are talking about frogs who clearly can't fly.
