In what language does 'da' mean 'the'? In Chinese 'da' means 'big' and in German 'da' means 'there'.

To 'rock up' is a slang expression that means 'to show up'. I'm don't think many people would know or use it though.

By the way, isn't 'da' an expression of surprise or something in English?

I think you're thinking of, in the immortal words of Homer Simpson, "Doh!"

Then, there's 'duh', when you suddenly realize something obvious.

Where did you get the notion that a LANGUAGE forum can be treated as a chat or SMS?

Da and Ma are terms that are often used in some parts of England and Ireland to refer to parents.
