Hi everyone,

Here is the sentence:It’s tempting to start with your own name, but if you know their name it’s a really nice touch to address them by it. Once they’ve been addressed, then you can throw your name into the mix.

I am not sure the meaning of words in red. Could you help me? Thank you.

.
Address = greet, as with a prescribed form, title, or name.
throw your name into the mix = give your name also during the conversation.
