I urge all non-native English speakers to take advantage of the voice-recording facility afforded by this site. I have never known a site which offers so many facilities for free.!!
It really is remarkable that the site owners can provide this for us at no cost.
OK, back to ACCENT.
ALL OF YOU have wonderful accents when speaking English. You must realise that losing your accent is like losing one of the most important parts of YOU.
I beg you, ( unless you think that sounding English is the " bee's knees " ), don't even think about it. Your accent is what makes you sound so interesting & different, and it is so appealing to our English ears.
Losing your accent will be a long and difficult process, and it is not really worth the trouble of trying to do so. ( In my opinion ) Just concentrate on speaking as clearly as you are able, and you will remain interesting, different and appealing.
ps. I just wanted to add, that my reason for raising this topic is that, :- I am what is known in England as a " Geordie ", which means that I was born, and lived for the best part of my life, in North-East England. I now live in Germany, and what little German that I do speak is spoken in a Geordie accent. ( Now for the fun part ).
A couple of my female neighbours have said, " We love to hear you speak. We could listen to you all day ... you have a wonderful ACCENT. "
Hope you get the point.!!!!!
Hello Torsten, I am complying with your request, but no doubt you will be very disappointed with my " Geordie " accent. Most men are, but quite a few of the Ladies seem to like it ... I don't know why .... it may just apply to German Ladies, but who knows.? _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |
