Hello!

I learned about English-Test.net when it was recently featured in Randy Cassingham's This is True, a weekly newsletter. This is True is sometimes humorous, sometimes political, and always thought-provoking. Randy's publication is 100% free, but I choose to pay him for his Premium edition to get all of the extra features each week.

My name is David Beroff. I've lived in the United States my whole life, in New Jersey ("NJ") and Pennsylvania ("PA"). I'm a native speaker, and reliable sources tell me I've been speaking the English language for at least four decades. Wink I was graduated from Rutgers University, and I taught there, as well. I ran an online marketing company for over a decade, and it did reasonably for quite a while, but it then collapsed, and I've had a very difficult time the last two or three years, pretty much losing everything I owned, including my house, cars, office, and ultimately, my family.

Until just recently, I had been living in Kensington, one of the absolute worst sections of Philadelphia. Americans don't often discuss our inner-city problems in public, so you might be interested in this hour-long video produced by the BBC about the area where I lived. You'll note that the BBC had required the reporter to wear a thick, bullet-proof vest during his entire visit.

I started to teach conversational English online (using Skype) late last year, but I had to stop because my landlord's Internet connection became unreliable. Two weeks ago, I moved to Bethlehem, PA, about a two hour trip north from Philadelphia, and I now have a much better Internet connection, so I'm going to start teaching again.

I've already started contributing to this site by offering to read English-Test.net articles aloud, and I want to continue to add value here. Since the site uses Google as an ad broker, I will use that system to pay English-Test.net for advertising. My first ad will be a video promoting my English teaching services, and this is where you can help, (even if you don't speak English very well). I would like to have some videos of the members of this forum, so I can include them in that first ad. You can find full details on my website (below).

In conclusion, you'll find that my natural tendency is to write in a promotional manner, so I have to strongly fight such urges when writing in forums such as this one. Very Happy Even though the site FAQ doesn't say very much about self-promotion, I'm being very cautious to only mention my own web address in my signature. If I've erred in my assumptions, I apologize in advance, and ask that you allow me to correct any problem.

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone here!
