GMAT sample question, 1
n. dilemma; state of confusion

(a) rigor
(b) knavery
(c) quandary
(d) disarray

Why the answer is "quandary" and not "disarray"?

A dilemma -- quandary or disarray? #2 (permalink) Tue Mar 10, 2009 8:31 am   A dilemma -- quandary or disarray?

1."Dilemma" is a situation which makes problems, often one in which you have to make a very difficult choice between things of equal importance.
2."Disarray" is a state of disorder, confusion.
3."Quandary" is a state of uncertainty or perplexity especially as requiring a choice between equally unfavorable options.

So,according to this "quandary" is much better than "disarray." The only answer is "quandary".
