Please tell me in what cases I should write:,,in a meeting'' and when I should write: ,,at the meeting''?

"At a/the meeting" sounds better.

Does it have anything to do with AmE/BrE? I hear 'in a/the meeting' many times.

Hi Saneta,

'I was at a/the meeting' suggests I attended the meeting/I was present when the meeting took place. 'In a/the meeting' is more often used about another person when they are descibed as being unable to speak/talk on the phone because they are sitting in a/the meeting.
