Hi guys,
Recently, I joined an English class which is free to train us, civil servants about English. During the first class that the English leader asked us to interview some new classmates and introduce them in public. Here is my draft which is three to four minutes long. Would you mind checking it out for me?
My speech draft
Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Maggie. I'd like to introduce two classmates. But I would say sorry to both of them if I said something because I really don't have a great memory. The first classmate I interviewed is Sylvie. She has worked in the Research and Development Evaluation Commission for around 10 years. Her occupation is Executive assistant. She is responsible for personnel administration She is interested in gardening. She likes to grow flowers, such as roses. After talking with her, I just know that we civil servants can apply to plant flowers or other plants on the 12th floor of the city hall government building. She was once a kindergarten teacher, so I think she probably is a patient girl. She is a cute and beautiful girl and (by the way boys,) she’s single as well. So I think she must be a good choice if you’re looking for a wonderful spouse.
The second interviewee I talked to is Oliver. Many students had talked about him. For me, I still want to say that I think he’s an amazing person. He has worked at Fei-Cui Reservoir of Taipei City. His occupation is officer. His hobby is in garden as far as I remember and it's the same to Sylvie. In my view, I think people can’t give up their dreams for any reasons. But he did. He gave up his dreams to have opportunity to work in China. Moreover, he told us that he kissed his wife every morning. I think it’s really a very good sample of a great married. I would like to wish this couple and I think they do be a lovely couple. Moreover, I have asked him if the water of Taipei city is clear. He told me that the water was clear, and I don’t need to question the water of Taipei city. Also, I appreciate that he advised me to use a distilled water machine to reduce water that I drink. I haven’t thought about this before. Originally, I usually buy water from supermarkets or 7-11 convenient stores because the water in my room has some weird flavor and I fear to drink it. So that I do get some useful and professional information from him indeed. Another thing that I learned from Oliver is that I think he learns something new very hard. If I were him, I didn’t know if I still could keep in learning English after I got married for around 28 years and I had two children as well.
Finally, I’d like to appreciate everyone that gives me this great chance to speak English out here. Thanks for your listening. And if you want to ask some questions about me, that’s your time. If no, that’s all right. We still have many classes to talk. Please enjoy this fantastic English class and have a great time with the friendly teacher, David as well as so many cute classmates.
By the way, the speech will start next Wesdeday. So if you don't mind, please anser me before next Tuesday.
Thanks for your corrections in advance and every correction is welcome in this article without thinking too much. Also, I recorded my voice in this post. So if you could give me some responses or record what you would say, I would appreciate you very very much.

" But I would say sorry to both of them if I said something because I really don't have a great memory."
That sentence makes no sense.
The interview with Maggie is OK, except for far too many " she's ". Continuity could have been far better if you had given more thought to what was going to be said.
The second interview has a lot of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, although the continuity is far better than the first.

Good afternoon everyone. My name is Maggie. I'd like to introduce two classmates, Sylvie and Oliver.
But firstly,I would like to apologise to both of them in advance should I forget anything of importance, because I really don't have a great memory.
The first classmate I will be interviewing is Sylvie who has worked in the Research and Development Evaluation Commission for around 10 years.
Her role is that of an Executive assistant, and she is responsible for personnel administration.
Sylvie is very interested in gardening ,and likes to grow flowers, especially roses, which are her favourite flowers.
After talking with her, I just know that we Civil Servants will all be applying to plant flowers and other plants on the 12th floor of the City Hall building.
Patience is one of Sylvies greatest assets, having in her earlier life held down the role of Kindergarden Teacher, a role for which patience is definitely THE key requirement .
By the way boys, in addition to being both cute and beautiful, Sylvie is single.!
So if any of you guys are thinking of " taking the plunge ". Ha, Ha, Ha. _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |

My second introduction is to Oliver, who most people, myself included, find to be an amazing person, because Oliver has given up on all of his earlier dreams, to come and live and work in China.
He works at the Fei-Chu water reservoir in Taipai city, where his role is that of Water Quality Control Officer.
I took the opportunity to question Oliver about the clarity and purity of his companies water , because I normally buy bottled water from my local supermaket. I do this because the water in my home sometimes has a strange taste.
Oliver assured me that the water issuing from his Company's plant is very clear and safe to use, but he did advise me to use distilled water whenever I could afford to.
He too has a very keen interest in gardening, and he is also very interested in learning English, spending several hours a week trying to perfect his errors. He tackles English, as he does most things, with intensity.
Oliver tells me that he kisses his wife, to whom he has been married for 28 years, every morning before leaving for work. They, and their two children, sound like a very lovely family, and a grand advert for marriage. I wish them all happiness and success.
Finally, I’d like to voice my appreciation to everyone for giving me this great opportunity to speak English here today. Thank you for your attention, and should you want to ask me any personal questions, now's your chance.
Please enjoy this fantastic English class, and have a great time with our friendly teacher David, and our many cute classmates. _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |
