Hi everyone,

I hope I won't bother you too much. I've another speech is that 'love or bread' which is limited in 3-4 minutes long base on my English leader. Probably it has a lot of works to do for checking it. I still hope you guys could give me some suggestions for this issue and how to do better for this kind of speech in English. It's an open issue. So if you want to say what you think about this issue is welcome, too. I checked the grammar of it. Hopefully, it won't have too much errors of grammar. My speech draft as follows.

Hello everyone. Today’s topic is love or bread. I think this issue is similar to when your mother and your wife will drown in the river immediately. Who is the person you will rescue if you just can choose one of them? In my opinions, love means you love someone whoever a male or a female. Bread means money, house, economy and so forth. It’s true that people want to have love very much. People enjoy to fall in love with others who they like. But I think I need both of love and bread, honestly. And it’s really difficult to choose one of them only. However, if I must choose one of them, I think I would choose bread instead.

Firstly, if I don’t have bread. I have no money, I have no house to live, I have no food to eat, I don’t have a wonderful health, either. So I think I need bread much more than love. If a guy loves me, but he is too poor. I would think my lover couldn’t give me sufficient stuff which I need in the life. My spouse and I need to worry about many things related to money everyday. For instance, nowadays, the global economy is down and we need to face the financial crisis . Many people had been laid off by the enterprises that run businesses not very well. Then those people won’t have money and also would cause some social problems. They might to be a thief, robber or killer. Moreover, at this very moment, a married couple has a loan or mortgage, how could they solve this kind of terrible situation? Won’t they have arguments or flights very very often? If they will, is still there love between this married couple? Definitely not. Probably it’s possible that they get divorce therefore. The main problems of those is because they don’t have bread. So we couldn’t have love without bread. If we don’t have bread, we won’t be happy most of the time in our life.On the contrary, we could have bread without love. That also proves that bread is much more important than love.

Here is another example. Have you watched a Japanese drama, ‘Over time’? This drama is a love and romantic story. The leading actress falls in love with a guy who is very poor. At the end of this drama, the leading actress chose to live with a doctor who is much rich. In this scenario, the poor guy is like a love and the rich guy is like a bread. That’s also a great instance to demonstrate that bread is much more important than love.

For myself, love is a kind of luxury stuff that I could give up if my situation is worst when I don’t have the capability of economy. However, if I lost love, I think I still could have it afterwards or in the near future. I have heard that one person would have many thousands of loves in his/her lifetime. That means we would love many people in our life. So if I do need to choose bread or love, I think absolutely I would choose bread instaed. That’s my idea. That’s all. Thanks for your listening.

By the way, I'm thinking if you guys could give me some suggestions on my recording voice. Because I think for a speech , speaking skills is much important than writing skills. Also, my speaking skills need to be improve much more, comparing to writing skills, too.

Thanks again.

Maggie

Hi Maggie, I think " Love or Money " would sound a better title.

I won't edit your text as I think it is good enough to present, considering that you are not English, I would approve of your work as it is.

You still do need to give thought about your topic though, and to group your subjects together to deliver a smooth , rationalised picture to your listener.

Good luck. Kitosdad.

ps. I think that when true love comes your way, then you will decide that money is not the most important thing in your life. Life is funny that way.
