Hi, the big cat! Are you getting fine with your study? I see you advance in your learning process day by day. By the way, I'm a student too, and my major is drilling and exploitation. I will work for petroleum company next year. As you know, with very heavy curriculum at the technical universities, especially English isn't taught there. So I have to teach myself, I really have difficult time learning English, but I like to be my own teacher. I always think that, there are no questions that don't have answers, there are no problems that don't have solutions, but I've been on my way to find out the right ways for long time, I haven't found it yet. How is your English now? Can you help me with this problem? Good luck with your study and on your examinations, hope to receive your advice. |

Hello Neil,
Nice to meet you and thank you for your message. Since you asked, I have to admit that my English is poor and I'm trying to improve it. That's precisely why I am here. My biggest problem is that although I'm capable of reading and understanding writen texts(with the help of an online dictionary), forming acceptable sentences seems to evade me. I have to think hard and process the language consciously when I am writing for lacking of enough input.
I like your attitude toward learning/living/facing difficulties. In addition to what you have said already, when your attitudes are right, there is no barrier too high, no valley too deep, no dream too extreme, no challenge too great for you.(so obviously, it's not my sentence. I borrowed it from an intelligent one.)
I don't think I am qualified to give others suggestions or advices because I am not even satisfied with my own English. Please take a look at this: http://www.english-test.net/forum/ftopic34563-15.html#130349 Jamie told me to absorb natural English by reading a lot of materialsm, and I suggest it as an aid to you. Hope this will help.
All the best,
Garfield _________________ Today is a gift, that's why we call it the present. |

Neil, I'm fairly sure sure you meant to say exploration. _________________ If you need me, I'm here. |

Dear Neil,
Why not participate in this forum and discuss with us? I suppose it's not a very good idea to practise your English alone, especially when there are so many kind people who are willing to help you(us). I am looking forward to reading more from you.
Best regard, A big fat lazy orange tiger striped cat with droopy eyes.
P.S. Where are you from, Neil? Could you please give us a bried introduction of yourself? _________________ Today is a gift, that's why we call it the present. |

Yes, Nasser. The more you do, the more you can do. And it is impossible to learn swimming without entering the water. _________________ Today is a gift, that's why we call it the present. |

Hello, Infin1ty and Nasser12sh12! Thank you for your advice. Where I can see your profile so I can imitate yours? As you said it was impossible to know how to swim without jumping into water. Yes, I absolutely agree with you. But I think, knowing which kind of water to touch is also important . Whenever I don't feel like learning English, I have an idea that: Language is the same fashion, it changes; For example, in 1990s, people rushed to learn Russian and French...But now English is the international language. We can see China becoming the powerful country, so what will happen? If we have to learn Chinese is the question that makes me concern. Of course you may ask me what I learn English for, and how long I can live. But how about the younger? So can you help me kick this idea out of my mind? Thank you! |

You needn't refer to other's profile, all you need to do is simply give us a brief introduction of yourself and say hello to other members here if you want to. (such as what's your name and where are you from)

In answer to this question, I suggest you take a look at this thread: why are you learning English In my case, I learn English just because I like it. Besides learning another language helps improve my odds of finding a job.

As to China's development, I prefer to use 'stronger' rather than 'powerful' to discribe it. I believe China will become more and more stronger, but by no means a powerful country.

Dear friend, no one can help you out or eliminate this kind of idea from you brain unless you change your mind. Don't worry about the youngers, just deal with your own issues.
To all those who happen to read this post: please correct me if you find any mistakes in my message. _________________ Today is a gift, that's why we call it the present. |

Dear Infin1ty. You are one of the founders of this web, Aren't you? I think we misunderstood. It's not my real problem. You're so serious, just relax. And I like some given reasons which tell why people should learn English, but I think it's not enough. How are you doing? are you working now, or still a student? |
