Hi everybody, please check if the following sentences are correct, i'm in doubt about the second sentence.

When Mr and Mrs Smith arrived home, they discovered that someone had broken into their house. Their video recorder and television had disappeared. They didn't know what they had done to deserve this bad luck.

And in the "They didn't know what they had done to deserve this bad luck" shouldn't i use "that" instead of "this"?
