Hi, my name is Jerome. I'm a student tutor. #1 (permalink) Sat Mar 21, 2009 16:36 pm   Hi, my name is Jerome. I'm a student tutor.

Hello everyone. I came across this forum while searching "for vs. because" and thought this would be a great resource for me because I am a student tutor in math and English at the university I attend. A great portion of the students here are esl and sometimes I need to explain, in depth, why something is wrong when said a certain way. As a native speaker I can tell when something is not proper, but i cannot always explain just why. I hope that i can get help as well as provide it while I'm here.

Jerome, I too am a native of England, and you really should know better than to use small-case I when typing.

Not a criticism, only a suggestion, as others here, not knowing the difference, will surely follow suit.

Jerome, if you want to become a teacher / tutor, then you will just have to kick the laziness thing into touch, or you may just pass it on to the next generation.

Jerome, now you can see for yourself the deep truth in Kitosdad's words. Quod erat demonstrandum. Flouting the languge conventions is not a very good idea, especially for a tutor.
