What should we do with the kids when they violate the rules which seem important for us? Shall we leave them aside, explaining our own experience of the same matter, demonstrate neglect, send them to their rooms to think over? And if we are frustrated after these messures ( and we very often are ), consequently we do something wrong. What should we do to feel right?

Expect from your children just what they expect from you.

Love, tolerance, and the knowledge that they are truly loved and needed. Always worked for me. ( I think. )

I think, the first good thing that a parent can do in that case, is to remember the ways you used to react when you were kid. that feeling can help you to understand how your kinds are doing. Maybe you have to consider that times have changed. the way we grew up, almost every thing came from parent exampl. But now the streets( school, freinds, TV...) are powerful educators. meaning that we should our selve learn more from the children reaction. what we can do, is to love them, always try to discuss with them, ask their point of view about a kind of attitude, the consequences of such act or reaction. By the end of the day, it can help

Yes Paulin, I find myself agreeing with you on that point. Kids are living in a far different world today. A world where their peers are paid attention to, much to the dismay of the parents.

I'm pretty sure that there is a fine line there, over which we are forbidden to cross.

Just tread carefully, and love will win out eventually.

I have a daughter of 50, and a son of 46, and they have often said that they regretted giving my wife and I trouble in their early years. They do grow to see the light, and will always come back to their parents love.
