Acceptance, usually refers to cases where a person experiences a situation, or condition, (often a negative or uncomfortable situation) without attempting to change it, protest, or exit.
When first I joined this Forum, I did so with the intention of bettering my knowledge of the more academic structure of the language, but I very quickly realised, that at my age I really was just " treading water ", so I accepted that fact, and turned my mind to other things, those that were within my ability, and limited knowledge of the English language.
Not being superstitious, I still accepted that fate had brought me to this Forum to do some good for others. Others whose knowledge of the English language was far less than mine, plus they had the thirst for learning which I lacked.
I hold no claims to being a teacher, but I do feel that my being here has helped a few folk who would otherwise still be floundering, in the hopes of one day being able to understand and accept the rules that accompany our Mother-tongue. ENGLISH.
Acceptance of ones limitations need not be a barrier to advancement in any field. You simply reassemble your thoughts, and seek another avenue through which to achieve your objective.
So, through my acceptance of my disinterest in the finer aspects of English grammar, I have made the transition for learner to helper. A position which I hope will be found acceptable to all concerned.
