Well, I finally got over myself and started digging for my headset. I was hoping that it was catted, Ms Lucky is known to do these things. And now I'm sitting here with no idea whatsoever as to what to say. _________________ No comment |

Hi! My nickname is Zim, and I am from Ukraine, as you can see in my tiny profile. I don't like talk much about myself, but also I need to improve my prononciation. So I have no choice, but recording this message. And I really want to know your opinion about my spoken English. |

Hi Zim,
Thanks a lot for your first voice recording. It's great to have you on board. Where in Ukraine do you live and what do you do?
Speak to you soon, Torsten

Good morning Zim. Your voice sounds just fine. It does take much practice to get the pronunciation of the longer words correct, but many English folk have the very same problem.
Increasing your vocabulary can sometimes be very helpful in allowing you to use a substitute word for the one that is giving you problems, whilst still conveying the same message.
Look up your problem word in a good dictionary, and hopefully find another that still fits within your context.

Thank you for your answers, Torsten and Kitosdad. I live in Dnepropetrovsk city. I am a coach of heavy athletic. I help people to become a more healthy and fit, than they are.
I hate English sound "th" in words such as "thanks", "through" and other sound "th" in words "there", "breathe" I can just say it as Z or S, it's much easier in my native language (Russian), but I want to speak "correctly", and I don't want what to do... I watch films in English, listen to audio-podcasts, but they don't help. But I won't give up. Because I love how sounds English and enjoy watch films in original language (English I mean). Best regards, Zim. |

" But I won't give up."
Zim, that is a great approach to your problem. It clearly states your intention to win through.
As a coach, you are well aware that not many things come easily, and those who give up will never succeed.
I can only suggest that you practice every " th " word in the dictionary for a few minutes TWICE a day. Begin with the short words .
You will get there my new friend. I'm sure that you will.
Regards, Kitosdad. _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |
