You have to speak sometime. Why not now? #1 (permalink) Fri Mar 27, 2009 15:25 pm   You have to speak sometime. Why not now?

If you really want to improve your speaking voice, then you have to let others hear you speak first. Then we shall be able to comment on your weakness .

It isn't difficult. Of course you do need a headset and a microphone, and you are all set.

Just type out a short message and then click on the "Record voice message " tab.

Then press the red button on the recorder and repeat your text. Press the blue button to stop recording. Press the blue arrow to hear your own voice. If you are not happy, then do it once again.

Once you are happy with your recording, then press the little white box which says, " post voice message " and your message is there for us all to hear and comment upon.

What about people like me?

As well as not liking to be photographed, I don't like to speak on answering machines and such like.
I would find it very awkward to sit here, trying to record my voice for others to judge.

I wrote " the cat sat on the mat "and now I will delete it and type the intended message.

It's easy-peasy when you first record your voice, and then type the text.

While I do understand your concern, Shyone, I suspect that you will be pleasantly surprised. People here seem to be generally positive and supportive, and all of us can learn from each other.

I just realized that your screen name may be derived from, "shy one". What better way to work on breaking through such perceived barriers than by speaking here? Everything becomes easier with practice!

You don't pose very much of a challenge, as you are neither old nor a dog!

(You see the advantages of posting your photograph!?) :D

Good Morning (Sorry, should have said that in the first place)

I'll take the picture down and replace it with an old dog so.

But seriously, I had these troubles all my life, and try as I might, I can't talk to a machine, I rather hang up and try again later.

I can assure you, we are not machines.

Well, I speak for myself, anyway. Some of the others, well....

Good morning Andria, no reference to you. Rather David referring to me, or so I thought.

He'd better not refer to you or he'll feel my wrath. :P

They don't call me "Andrea with a temper" for nothing :P
