Nowadays, the number of students prefer back - packing travel is

increasing. They themselves like to design tours and stay in a budget

hostel rather than to enjoy fixed scheduled tours. In order to prepare for

a sefl design tours, it is important to chose a suitable hostel. This report

will compare three hostel in Melbourne, Autralia, namely Cooee on St

Kilda, Hostel Discovery (HD) and Melbourne Connection Travellers

Hostel (MCT). The four factors including location, price, facilities and

special features are all discussed

First of all, there are several similarities and differences between Cooee,

HD and MCT hostel in regard to their location. While Cooee is near a

beach, HD and MCT are near the city center. It takes about five to ten

minutes to walk from HD and MCT to Queen Victoria Market.They are

also close to some famous city attractions. On the other hand, Cooee is

located near Melbourne’s beach and it is close to a tram that run straight

into the center of Melbourne

Secondly, the price of three hostel is slightly differs. While Cooee costs a

hightest price which ranges from 28 AUD to 44.5 AUD. MCT’s price is

lowest. It ranges from 25 AUD to 32 AUD. In addition, the price of HD,

ranges from 27 AUD to 42.5 AUD, is slightly more expensive than that of

MCT.

Thirdly, all three hostel have similarities and differences in facilities.

There are some facilities that they all offer such as longue area, internet

connection, travel information desk. Beside that, each hostel has it’s own

facilities which are not available in other hostels. For example, Cooee

provides TV and DVD player in each room, HD offers in – house cinema,

for all guests, MCT has Internet connection with priting free. However,

there is only Cooee that provides seft – catering facilities with modern

equipped kitchen

Finally, the special feature of three hostel differs considerbly. For

example, Cooee offers airport pickup services free for guest who stay at

least three nights. HD provides with daily city tour free which required

three nights stay. In contract, MCT doesn’t offer this feature.

In conclution, while HD and MCT have a convenient location, Cooee has

been equipped by modern facilities. However, Cooee has the highest

price and it takes an hour drive to city center. In comparision with MCT,

HD’s facilities is much more modern. Therefore, Hostel Discovery might

be a best choice for it’s location, average price, modern facilities.
