Usage of 'pointers'

I want to ask if anyone knows a good dentist. Can I ask that like this?

Pointers to a good dentist needed.

Hi Daemon,

'Pointers' is to me more a word to suggest 'indications' - in other words something that is more abstract than what you want to say. I would offer: Recommendations for a good dentist needed/ Suggestions as to where I can find a good dentist needed.
