Which one is better?

..., after which apparently a settlement was reached.

..., after which a settlement was apparently reached.

Also, do I need to separate apparently with commas?

Hi,

In that sentence it is best to put the adverb 'apparently' as in sentence (1) after which apparently a settlement was reached. In that position it suggests something like: It appears/seems that .. You don't really need to put the adverb between commas.
