What is the weather like in the Bahams?

I am planning this year's vacation and the Bahamas is one of the options.
Is anybody from this region present on the forum? Have somebody been there and can give me some pointers?
What is the best time to go? When does the hurricane season start?
What is there to see and to do besides lying on the beach?
Anything else you would like to share?

Sahid, I think Milanya was wanting information from someone who had actually had a holiday there, and for them to share their experiences.
