Where it go? vs Where did it go? #1 (permalink) Wed Apr 01, 2009 16:25 pm   Where it go? vs Where did it go?

Hi Pals,
I was watching this week "FRIENDS" (T.V show) and one of them said something that caught my attention.

'Joey' was showing 'Rachel' his place and then he pointed out the floor where a dirty napkin was. The napkin actually wasn't right there, though. So, he asked himself, "Hey! where the napkin go?".

I'd like to know if this kind of questions are allowed when speaking formally...Besides, I wonder if this question refers to the past even if it doesn't have the aux.DID.
Last, if it is a common use in english, could someone tell why?

Well, I hope you have a clear picture about this.
Thank you so much!

Hi Sergio,

This sort of question 'where he go?' and so on is the sort of language children use when they are learning to speak English. When adults use it, then they are using it for humorous effect. No, you wouldn't use that sort of phrasing in formal English.
