Telling time: I usually get up at half past eight in the morning. #1 (permalink) Fri Apr 03, 2009 20:21 pm   Telling time: I usually get up at half past eight in the morning.

Could you review my sentences, please?
It's seven o'clock in the morning.
It's five forty-five pm.
It's half past ten in the morning.
It's half past ten am.
I usually get up at half past eight in the morning.
The bank opens at quarter to nine in the morning.

Are all of these sentences correct? When can we use am/pm?Can we say:"at half past ten am" (it sounds inadequate to me)
Thanks in advance
Li Chyan

.
Are all of these sentences correct?-- Yes

When can we use am/pm?-- Virtually whenever you wish
Can we say:"at half past ten am" (it sounds inadequate to me)-- It just sounds a little unusual; I think natives use 'in the morning' here usually.
