The word for today is :- SUCCESS. #1 (permalink) Sat Apr 04, 2009 12:05 pm   The word for today is :- SUCCESS.

Ambition, the driving force that is within many people. The desire to succeed, and in succeeding, acquiring the wealth or power to have, and do, just about anything your heart desires.

But beware, for in succeeding, you may have trodden underfoot many of the virtues that were so lovingly instilled within you by your parents and elders.

Many successful people were faced with the problem of acting directly in opposition to their beliefs and true feelings ................ but SUCCESS is a harsh mistress, and She demands total dedication to the tasks that She sets before you .

Falter, and She will desert you. It doesn't matter to Her, because countless others are waiting in line for their chance ......... their chance of success. She is boundless with Her rewards for your efforts, but oh, what a price you have to pay.

Broken marriages, life-long friendships lost, decisions to be made, sleepless nights. All are part of the price that lots of people have to pay for Her to smile on them.

How can I speak with such an authority on this subject ?. Because I have been there.
From being a millionaire, to absolutely broke and friendless, all within weeks.

Tomorrow, I will have a new word to highlight. A simple word, but one with far more worth and truth than SUCCESS.

Can you guess what it is ?.

Hello, Kitosdad
Maybe,I guess, your new simple word is just Life? Do you mean that succes destroy our lives.?Maybe it's true because sometimes succes can be broken, and when peope long for gaining fame, money ..etc it can have a very bad effect on us.Our Life should easier without all this. But if people didn't want to achieve succes ,their life woudn't be worth living. It is the matter of fact that - "the more you get the more you want". People always want to reach something new and widener their horizonts, climb new higher life mountains..Our life wouldn't be interesting, full of emotions and feelings without it.
I agree with you that people pay a high price for succes in life. That's really bad.BUt there is one very important thing - to never give up. Even if you lost everyhing, never loose your hope and belief.even if a person fall at the very bottom he can get out of it ,get over and never stop trying. I don't know why I'm writing this because I don't even know yet what the real success is,because I'm quite young. But I already see the problems that face up me and my family and how hard it is to reach something, I know, because there is kinda "black or grey stripe" in my family .and I don't know when the life will smile to us at last. there is something that I've learned - keep on trying and never stop believing in better.maybe it's one of the keys of success. :)
Best regards,
Ania

Thank you Ania for your very sensible input. You are quite correct. Most people strive for success. My words were to warn, that more than often those who have gained their success have had a high price to pay, either with personal relationships or by losing something that they never thought they would. They were simply blinded by the desire to succeed ................. at any cost.

Many thanks for you my darling friend , Bill
Many thanks for my darling Ania

Yes, success is the result of good judgment.
Good judgment is the result of experience
Experience is often the result of bad judgment

Keep at it ! If you keep striving to make things better, and we learn from our "mistakes" ,then we will succeed.

You see , we all have problems ,disappointments ,and frustrations, but it's how we deal with our setbacks that will shape our lives more than anythings else we do.

My present for you both ,is :

Your past does not equal your future. What matters is not yesterday but what you do right now. Many people are trying to drive into future using a rearview mirror to guide themselves ! If you do that , you'll crash .Instead you must focus on what you can do today to make things better.

Let me see your comments ..

Don't worry Ania,and take care .

Best regards.

Salam

Dear Salam,
Thanks for your advice, you are absolutely riight because we have not to look on our past, that's truth.we must live for the future.I remember a good quote - "Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is Mystery ,Today is a gift, That's why we call it "Present" " today is the most important and it is only in our hands.
Sincerely,
Ania :)

" Many people are trying to drive into future using a rear-view mirror to guide themselves."

Good morning Salam. You are correct, as ever. The truth for me is that I only have a rear-view mirror to look into. Forward shows an empty road ahead.

My object in writing this post was to warn folk with drive to be ever-aware that there are more important things in their life than success.Maybe this statement comes across as sour-grapes, but it honestly isn't meant to. I had it all and threw it away in a vain attempt to get even more.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it not a gift that God has handed out liberally. Only we failures are blessed with it. All we can do is to try to distribute what little that He has given us with others, but unfortunately the portion usually is thrown in the rubbish-bin along with a lot of other good advice.

Take heed. Look around you and assess if what you have is more than sufficient. If you think it is, then put the brakes on your driving ambition for a while and enjoy what you do have, lest you lose it all, as I did.

I should repeat:

Even the eyes filled with dreams,
cannot close themselves in peace.

Nothing reaches the mind,
when we seek and not find.

:)

Picasso once said, "I don't seek, I find".
