Prepositions of place: (I live at 21 White Street) #1 (permalink) Wed Apr 08, 2009 14:51 pm   Prepositions of place: (I live at 21 White Street)

Hello!
Could you explain to me which preposition of place is usually used with the word 'street'?
As far as I understand, 'at' is used with exact places, e.g.: I live at 21 White Street(correct?)
But when do we use 'in the street' and 'on the street'?
Thanks in advance
Li Chyan

Li Chyan, hello. Hope you are well.

" He was lying on the street, drunk and fast asleep. "

" When I'm here, on the street, where you live.

" I was in your street yesterday."

" I saw the children playing football in your street. "

" There was a nasty accident in your street earlier today."

Can you please give a bit more elaborate answer about the using of these two prepositions "on" and "in" respectively for a better and easier understanding related to "street" ? Thanks in advance!
