Can I use make noises in the sense of to do something to attract attention, as in the following sentence.

If we don't get the desktop allocated soon, we are going to have to make noises to the IT department.

Is the above sentence OK? Also, can anyone suggest a few other expressions that mean the same?

That's OK Daemon. You could also say,

" Raise hell with them. "
" Play hell with them."
" Raise a stink."
" Kick someone's *** ."
