I'm looking for a word:

Someone, mostly higher in rank and experience, who is assisting and promoting someone else is called a mentor.

How would you call the one who is being assisted and promoted?

This depends on the situation. The word could be prot?g?, candidate, assistant, student or learner.

It is for a online community. Users of a higher rank are assigned to assist new users. So what term would you use?

Is there a word like "mentee"? Wink

Mentee might be a good choice. The word exists although it's rarely used. In your particular case, however, it makes sense because you are creating an online community which often has its own terminology.

The english version will be announced soon - and you will probably find loads of errors in the texts. Wink
