she has built or she built? #1 (permalink) Mon Apr 13, 2009 18:55 pm   she has built or she built?

She has the tendency to destroy everything she ( ) built over years within seconds...

I have a question with the past tense, for eg, what is the difference between ' I worked' and 'I have worked'?

do we need to add the verb before the past tense?

Thanks kitosdad,

I know both of them ( i worked/ i have worked) are past tense, but when do we add the verb in between?

That's why I am confuse why can't it be "she built..."?

You could say, " she's built ", otherwise the sentence sounds unfinished.

I have worked, could be present tense, as in, " I have worked here for ten years. ?

Seems as though both could fit.

Ask a Moderator, they are the experts. :) :)

Hi,

Although they seem to be in the past, when you need to reflect an event's effects on today you have to use have/has (perfect tense) as l know. So it wouldnt be correct to say there is no difference between two sentences.

as for the sentence you wrote, to my mind, you need to use has before the main verb.

Best regards,

by the way, l read all your fruitfull comments Mr. Kitosdad. Thanks a lot.
