As my good friend Jamie K has recently remarked, " Taking a bath in English " is the very best way to learn. Also the most relaxing and refreshing.

The very " elasticity " of the English language is its greatest asset. The way each phrase can warm your heart, or chill your blood, is remarkable.

But relax, and let it wash over you as you read an interesting novel.

Notice the spell being weaved into each sentence by such good writers as James Patterson. The tension mounting as we approach the end of each chapter, and the mystery deepening, all culminating in an unexpected ending.

Note your own quiet contentment as you close the book and pull the plug from the base of the bath. That was great. You feel relaxed and sleepy.

You really can't beat a good novel at bedtime, and what an easy way to immerse yourself in the language. Far preferable to stuffy verb tables before sleeping.

Good night.

Kitosdad.

Hello Mr.Kitosdad,

I read your text about "Taking a bath in English".

But I need a little help to understand what do you mean when you writte "wash over" is it what people call "phrasal verbs" ? (I'm in the smoke or in the fog).

The ending of you story, is hard fo me to realize too.

This phrase :

"Far preferable to stuffy verb tables before sleeping", means that it's boring to learn on the bed before sleeping, like iregulars table verbs for example.

I remenber two films with Morgan Freeman who play a inspector, I think these two stories were based on two books writting by Mr.Patterson.

Thanks for you reply about my two easy questions.

See you later.

Good morning TF. I really don't know if " wash-over" is a phrasal verb or not. Reason being that I never go into English that deeply, although my greatest wish is that all students will learn the tenses and conjugation of verbs.

My motto is, that I learn what I need to know .................. now. Experience will reveal my shortcomings. The secret is to not hide your shortcomings. People will respect you far more when they appreciate that you do not pretend to be something that you are not.

"Far preferable to stuffy verb tables before sleeping"

I like to read a book by my one of favourite authors. Many experts tell you that learning before, or even during, sleep speeds the retention of the learning.

I'm sure that's true. It's just not my way.

Kitos.
