I like John Savage, and Dennis Hopper when he plays psychopaths.

I like Mike Meyers when he plays a mod Englishman from the '60s with bad teeth.

Robert De Niro was incredibly skillful in that part of that criminal in the remake of "Cape Fear", and he was also good as the main character in "The King of Comedy".

Like one other list member, I like Hedy Lamarr, not because she was a good actress, but because she was so beautiful. She was also an engineer, and she came up with some very important inventions. I always liked Isabelle Adjani for the same reason I like Hedy Lamarr, but Isabelle is not an engineer.

When I was a child I hated Leslie Caron, but now I like her in those old movies. I think I saw her as an elderly woman on an episode of "Law & Order" once.

How about two questions ?

What was the name of Rocky's girlfriend ?

Who said, " When the man with a handgun meets the man with a rifle, then the man with the handgun is a dead man ?

KD, four more (I read your additions, but if I am redundant with any of these four, well, duplication won't hurt here. hehe):

Gene Hackman (for whatever reason, I think of him paired with Michael Caine)
Paul Newman
John Wayne
Ben Kingsley

As for Jim Carrey, IMO he tends to over-act. That said, as a comedic actor he's excellent: I laughed especially hard during his performances in the first "Ace Ventura" flick and "Bruce Almighty".

Agreed Prez, a bit like Mr. Bean and Jerry Lewis, too " over the top." However, I did see JC do an excellent impersonation of Sammy Davis Jnr. on UTube.

He was only a young stand-up comic at the time, but so very talented.

Yeah. Jim Carrey is da bomb.

Oh, and... you asked a question a few posts back.

The answer is "Adrian".

I mean "ADRIAN! ADRIAANNN! ADRIAAANNNN!" (and cue the great end-music of Rocky).

Smile

I think Eddie Murphy is great at all those different characters he plays, including old men with Yiddish accents! He's much better in the remake of "The Nutty Professor" than Jerry Lewis was in the original.

Obviously you're thinking of Harold Lloyd or Buster Keaton.

I am not sure what natives perceive, but he definitely went beyond the boundaries of language and nations -- Charlie Chaplin.

Yes, I knew exactly who you meant, but I get tired of foreigners exalting Charlie Chaplin, just as I get tired of many foreigners worshiping John Lennon. Very Happy

Chaplin was a great comedian, but there were other comedians of the silent era as good as he was.
