Question about the usage of be verbs: is vs are. #1 (permalink) Thu Apr 16, 2009 16:11 pm   Question about the usage of be verbs: is vs are.

Hello everyone,

I'm confused by the usage of is and are in the following sentences:

Which one are you? -- Does it make sense?

Which is you?-- Does it make sense?

Which one are you interested in?--Correct?

I'm not sure if 'which is you' correct but 'which one are you' sounds strange to my ear. Could you please tell me if the sentence above are okay? If not, would you please help me correct me? Many thanks.

Shi, all are correct. Reference point regarding the question alter the context.

" Which one is/are you.?" Could be asked when looking at the picture, of say, a Fancy Dress party .

" Which one are you interested in? " Could be the question from a salesperson.

Don't worry, all are correct. You just have to experience the various situations when they will fall naturally into place.

Take care little friend, Kitosdad.
