I have a ghost in my possession I can appear him whenever I want to. #1 (permalink) Wed Apr 22, 2009 19:15 pm   I have a ghost in my possession I can appear him whenever I want to.

My dear and respected teachers,

1: "Don't throw the rice on the floor." OR "Don't drop the rice on the ground."

2: In BrE 'on' is used "I punched him on the stomach." And in AmE 'in' is used "I punched him in the stomach." ?

3: "I have a ghost in my possession I can appear him whenever I want to." correct?

4: "Which players of Pakistan cricket team do you like.? OR "Which players of Pakistani cricket team do you like.? Which one is correct?

Thanks in advance!

1. Either, although the meanings are different. 'Don't throw' implies that somebod was deliberately chosing to throw the rice, 'Don't drop' implies a warning against accidentally dropping any rice. The proper one will depend up what context you're using it in.

2) I can't verify the BrE variant, but yes, in AmE you punch people 'in' the stomach or face.

3) This doesn't make sense. I think you'd have to say something like "I have a ghost in my possession, and I can make him appear/manifest whenever I want to."

4) "Which players of the Pakistani cricket team do you like?"

Dear Twilit1988,

- I know that "I punched him on the stomach." is correct.

- "I have a ghost in my possession I can appear him whenever I want to." is not correct, I think. It's better with "I have a ghost in my possession. I can make him appear whenever I want."

- "Pakistani cricket team" is correct.
