About M.S. in computer sciences

Hi people,

I am a B.E. [Mechanical, 2005 pass out] from India with 4 years of exp in Information Technology. Now I am thinking of doing M.S. in computer sciences in US and I am in the process of preparing for my GRE too. Last week one of my friend said that I can't do M.S. in computer sciences, because of the fact that my bachelors is in Mechanical Engg. Is this true? Is there any other option which would allow me to do my masters in computer sciences?

I am afraid, your friend has given you incorrect advice. My Prof. had a b.tech from IIT K in Civil, MS in Electrical from Univ. of Chicago, and PhD in Comp. Sc from Wisconsin.
You can switch your majors. However, if you are targeting top 20 universities in comp. science you may need to make some extra effort like publications or may be Subject GRE etc.You can see your chances of getting admitted to universities at missiongre.com. You can download sample subject gre CS paper at www.ets.org/gre and then choose subject test.
