What are you really doing here? #1 (permalink) Thu Apr 23, 2009 17:17 pm   What are you really doing here?

Originally I joined this Forum to learn about the aspects of grammar which I know I am lacking in.

I needed to know this to further assist a few German children I am teaching English to,and I wanted to expand my group to include Gymnasium students up to 16 years of age.

My main group are in the 8 / 12 age band, and what grammar I already knew I felt confident enough at passing on, and it was more than sufficient for those needs.

My plans were brought to an abrupt halt when I tentatively started replying to questions being posted here, and slowly I discovered that I was having so much fun, that I decided that I would restrict myself to what I was already comfortable with.

My time here has really been an experience for me. Meeting new people, and making a few good friends along the way. Couldn't dream of leaving now.

I'd like to express my thanks to Torsten, Alan and Mr. Micawber for cutting me enough slack to enjoy myself here. Long may they continue to bear with me.

To my friends, I thank you for the compliments that you have paid me. My hope is that I can continue to be of service for a long while yet.

Kitosdad.

The way to hell is paved with good intentions, isn't it?

It was my intention to come here every day to do exercises, and for the first few days I did.

I made my way up to 111 in the list in a couple of days, but I soon felt that after a day on the computer I was far too tired to do anything. So I started to just hang out here, often even without signing in (it's called lurking if anybody wants to know), and I soon realized that by reading through the forum I learned the one or the other thing about the language, and the people that come here.

So I decided I will keep doing it, it's fun, and I do learn a lot just by having that sort of fun.

I know that this way I'll never get my post count up to 1000, but it's not important to me. I want to learn something, and that's what I do.
