Good morning Kyle, it means they used to be overweight. Fat.

I strongly disagree with that explanation, and I seriously doubt that they're commenting on their weight.

Well-rounded means well balanced, a good mix of various aspects, desirably varied or fully developed.

A well-rounded diet, a well-rounded eduction, a well-rounded athlete, etc.

So, if some says they used to be so well-rounded, they're commenting on how they used to be engaged in a number of various activities or disciplines, but today they're minimally involved.

I have heard references to a well-rounded belly, which is of course talking about weight, but that's substantially different than the original post.

Well-rounded.

Adjective
1. desirably varied: his well-rounded team
2. rounded in shape or well developed: a voluptuous well-rounded lady or gent.( fat. )

Disagree away. Your opinion.

You disprove yourself.

Voluptuous is not fat.

Skrej, It's early.

Voluptuous to me is fat. Put it to rest.

Let it be whatever it is to you, but we have a responsibility to give learners reliable information that's accurate with standardized English, not just answers based on our own personal beliefs or misconceived deviations.

Let the original poster decide for themselves, then. I submit that one look up well-rounded, and see if they too, can find any indication that corroborates your skewed answer, or if they come to separate conclusions of their own.

If anybody can construe 'fat or overweight' out of the few entries that even allow a definition of body shape, then it's up to them to decide if "voluptuous, shapely, and pleasing forms", all centered around the concept of sensual delights, should be construed as "fat and overweight".

I would definitely support Skrej's definition. I would use the expression a well-rounded person as a balanced one, as a person who is in harmony with himself and the environment.

Hello again Vetty. I didn't disagree with Skrej, he disagreed with me. No problem with that when there is a definite conclusion to be drawn, but there isn't, merely his Google, or elsewhere interpretation.

I have always accepted well-rounded to be a " nice friendly joking " way of saying fat. I had no intention of turning our differences into an argument, but Skrej appeared to, an annoying habit of his of late.

If he was a teacher, then I would accept his explanation without further discourse, but he isn't. Therefore I choose to stand by my own definition.

EOS as far as I am concerned, but it won't be for Skrej.

Hi,

My first reaction to the question about the meaning of
Quote:
I used to be so well-rounded
was that it referred to someone having a balanced outlook on life. It is a bit unusual to refer to a person as 'well rounded' and certainly about oneself. To me it is an adjective often attached to abstract words like 'argument' 'attitude' suggesting that the argument and attitude embrace all points of view.

Hi,
I could find a definition for "well-rounded" by looking it up in Longman Dictionary.Surprisingiy,it doesn't mean FAT;on the contrary, it means "having a shapely body".It applies only to girls&women :
A well-rounded woman with long blond hair.
