British supermarkets are now full of exotic cooking ingredients, sauces, pasta, cheese, fruit and vegetables.

What does exotic in this context mean? strange or fantastic?

I think that it relates to items which we have never before, or rarely seen, in British supermarkets.

Hope you are well.

Bill.

Yes, strange, unusual, mysteriously different, exiting, all because its not native to that particular area.
