Can anyone please help with this?
Andy and Alex can do an assignment in 20 and 25 days alone, respectively. If Andy started working and Alex joins him after 5days how much longer will it take to complete the assignment working together? |

I found the method.
Rate of Andy = 1/20 Rate of Alex = 1/25 Andy work for 5 days;
The amount of work Andy finished = (1/20) x 5 = 1/4 The amount of work remain = 1- 1/4 =3/4 # of days taken by both = N working rate of both = (3/4)/N 1/20 + 1/25 = (3/4)N N = 25/3 days |

My solution was derived from Andy having already completed one quarter of the work.
Therefore he had 15 days work yet to do. (3/4)
Alex now only had 18.75 days work to do.
Total time to work = 33.75 days / 2
=16.875 days = 16 days 21 hours.

you got wrong on "Andy had 15 days work yet to do". We can not predict the days like this as both are going to work.
The OA is 25/3 days. |

Good morning Uis. I simply asked if you knew the answer.
You chose to use the same logic as I, but expressed yours in a mathematical equation. _________________ Keep it simple ... Keep it interesting. |
