Hi, everyone

As you may know, I'll join an English contest recently.(May 8th). So I would like to ask the audiences some questions in the middle of my speech. I write down what I would say. And please correct me the errors if I make and please check it for me if the scenario is fine if free. Also, I record what I would say as well.(Please also check it for me?)Thanks for helping out in advance.

For those people who are not in Taiwan, they also can see this exhibition on the Internet at the same time.

Now I would like to ask you some questions.

Which countries have you been to?

If you want to answer this question, please raise your hand.

Any volunteers?

For my example. Here I would like to share my personal experience about travel. I’ve been to Canada. That time I couldn’t speak any English very well. Especially, when I got lost, I didn’t know what I could do. So even though Canada is very beautiful country, unfortunately, I couldn’t experience it a lot.

So The second thing I expect at this exhibition is...
One can get to the exhibition easily.

Could you check out one paragraph for me, please? #2 (permalink) Wed May 06, 2009 5:26 am   Could you check out one paragraph for me, please?

Hi Maggie,

I think your speech is coming along nicely. I think your sentences are fine, although I would offer a few small suggestions.

Here, I'd leave off the words 'at the same time', and just say "For those people who are not in Taiwan, they too can see this exhibition, on the Internet at www.websiteaddress.com (I'd also include the website address of the exhibition here)"

Now I would like to ask you some questions. Fine.

I'd suggest changing the fragment 'For my example' to 'As an example, I would like to....it a lot.

Best of luck on your speech. You're certainly putting a lot of effort into preparation, so I think you'll go very well. You're doing the smartest thing you can possibly do by practicing it out loud.

My speech instructors always suggested practicing our speeches out loud, repeatedly, in front of a mirror, as a form of practice and preparation.
